Apple’s international online stores leak Watch ship times: 4-6 weeks for some Watch models, ‘May’ for Edition

Apple Watch goes up for preorder on April 10 and becomes available April 24 through retail stores and online, but some of Apple’s online stores are listing ship dates ranging from April 24th to sometime in May depending on the model.

Earlier today some of Apple’s online stores, including its German and UK stores, listed various shipping dates for the device for those willing to do a little digging on the site. While the Sport models and the Apple Watch with classic leather strap or Milanese bracelet are listed as shipping between April 24th and May 8th, other models are listed as shipping in 4-6 weeks or simply in “May”.

macerkopf.de first spotted the shipping dates on the German Apple online store and we later spotted the same dates on the UK and other international stores:

Apple Watch Sport: Usually ships “April 24 – May 8.”
Apple Watch with modern leather bracelet: Usually ships in “4 to 6 weeks”
Apple Watch Link Watch: Usually ships in “4 to 6 weeks”
Apple Watch with leather strap with loop: Usually ships in “4 to 6 weeks”
Apple Watch with classic leather strap: Usually ships “April 24 – May 8.”
Apple Watch with Milanese bracelet: Usually ships “April 24 – May 8.”
Apple Watch with Sport Armband: Usually hips “April 24 – May 8.”
Apple Watch Edition: Usually ships “MAY”

It’s unclear if these dates will apply to the US or just international markets, but it’s not surprising considering we’ve heard Apple Watch stock could be limited at launch. In addition to limiting stock of the gold Watch Edition and the number of units customers can buy from each collection, we reported earlier this month that supplies of the rose gold Edition models will be very tight as Apple continues to work out discoloration issues.

Going to be hard to encourage people online as planned, when ship times are further away than launch day. No more queues eh? We’ll see about that.

“24.04. to 5.8” makes no sense. If the date format is dd/mm, then that would mean Apr 24 – Aug 5. If it’s mm/dd, then 24.04 is not even a valid date.

Looking at the macerkopf.de source, it looks like it’s 24/4 to 8/5, i.e. Apr 24 to May 8.

Anyway, I think the real story is, we have no idea, and it depends on how many people actually decide they want to buy one of these. I still don’t have even a rough idea if this thing will sell like crazy, or if many people are feeling like they don’t really need one. (Obviously, given Apple’s recent track record, it will be the former, but this product is quite different from their recent line-up.

  3. after doing an online chat with apple today, the launch won’t be anything like the iPhone 6 was, with their excellent reservation system. Reserver online and select a time to pick it up in store. That’s gone by the looks of it. Order online to receive by courier, or go to the store to order it to pick up in store. Hope their system doesn’t crash like it did with iPhone 6….

I’m definitely going to be buying one I’ve done so much research it’s sickening, but here’s my problem: At 12:01am on Friday why would I pre-order if I haven’t even tried it on yet? I have no idea which band looks best on my skin. I just hope when they release I can get the one I want on day one not 3 weeks later from online (*cough* my iPhone 6).
