Apple has pushed out the third preview of the upcoming OS X 10.11, marketed under the name “El Capitan,” to developers today. The previous build was released on June 23rd, putting this release at just over the standard of two weeks between seeds.
Previously it was reported that Apple would make El Capitan available to its retail employees to test.
As new features and changes are discovered in this beta build, we’ll keep this post updated with a running list of additions. Last month, we broke down some of the features in iOS 9 and OS X 10.11 El Capitan and noted some improvements Apple could make to the functionality of the features before launch later this year.
What’s New:
- Several bug fixes have been made to existing features
- Dragging a window out of the top bar in Mission Control now allows you to move it back to the desktop as a separate window
- The Photos app now has automatic albums for selfies and screenshots
- Calendar has a new splash screen (see below)

I wonder what happened to third beta of iOS9… Eddy Cue said it would be released this week but there isn’t an update so far…
You spoke too soon
It looks like, yeah, i did.
it might come tomorrow !
Whats about Xcode 6.4 in this beta?
El Capitan only supports Xcode 7…it’s in the release notes:
• Xcode versions prior to 7 are not supported on OS X El Capitan Beta 3.
but there was a trick (/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode) is this working or not?
It opens via the trick, but the deployment target dropdown is missing on mine :(
It might just be me, but I’d hold off!
Update: I can still deploy to my phone, but not the simulator… Might just be a UI issue (http://cl.ly/image/2s2w3I3x0x1j)
Did the Photos app have the “Selfies” category before? never noticed might be new
Is Xcode 6.4 working again in this beta?

Chrome in incognito mode is back to its original color to dark blue rather than a completely saturated light blue.
Anybody else notice when you mac goes to sleep, it turns off USB, and my iPhone does not charge anymore? This started when I upgraded to the El Capitan beta.
Mine still does charge.
I have the same problem with my late 2009 iMac, but not with my late 2012 MacBook Pro.
my update stuck at 108MB
