Aaron Sorkin’s mixed reviewed Steve Jobs movie already won a Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay and was nominated for even more. Now the film is showing up on the 2016 Oscar nominees list with the Steve Jobs biopic up for two Oscars at the upcoming 88th Academy Awards.
Michael Fassbender, who portrayed the title character in the movie is nominated for Best Actor for his role as Steve Jobs in the film. Fassbender is competing with Bryan Cranston (Trumbo), Matt Damon (The Martian), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant), and Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl). Interestingly, DiCaprio was once on board to play the role of the late Apple co-founder before dropping out.
In the Best Supporting Actress category, Kate Winslet is being nominated for her part in the Jobs film. Winslet, who played Joanna Hoffman, already won a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for the movie. The actress is up against Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight), Rooney Mara (Carol), Rachel McAdams (Spotlight), and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl).
The 88th Academy Awards where the Oscars are recognized takes place on February 28, 2016. We’ll stay tuned to see if the Steve Jobs movie racks up any new awards next month.

This is a nice nod to the film, even if I doubt that it will actually win. Surprised it didn’t get nominated for writing ala Golden Globes. Might’ve been its best chance of taking home a trophy. Still, it’s probably enough to make people want to see it out of curiosity considering it was such a flop at the box office.
I would just like chance to actually see it. It didn’t play in any theater within an hour of where I live. Hard for a movie to be a success when it doesn’t get shown.
Perhaps it wasn’t shown in your area because it flopped? At least, that’s what I got from all the reviews.
Once again if it isn’t shown it is bound to be a flop.
Also it can’t be as bad as the Kutcher film and that played in the theatre down the street from my house.
It also won the Best Supporting Actress at Golden Globe.
“Steve Jobs” was a lousy piece of film making. False narrative and uninspired acting. Proof once again that awards shows are just that, shows. Friends patting other friends in the industry on the back and expecting America to celebrate it.
“Mixed reviewed”? Nothing mixed about the reviews. It was flat out panned as simply a bad movie.
Garbage
I really disliked this film
