Update: HomePod preorders are now live in the Apple Store app and Best Buy is now offering preorders as well.
With Apple’s HomePod pre-orders to start later today, the smart speakers have been added to Best Buy’s website, labelled as ‘coming soon’ …
Both white and black models are listed in the ‘Voice assistants’ sub-section within smart home products.
So far at least, it appears you shouldn’t be expecting any discounts, the device being listed at its official price of $349.99.
While Apple has not specified the time at which HomePod goes on sale, the product didn’t go live on Apple’s own website at midnight PT. It’s notable that the Australian site shows pre-orders on January 27 rather than today, and it didn’t go live there at midnight either.
The delayed launch of the product is likely to have increased pent-up demand for the HomePod, suggesting delivery times could rapidly slip. Competitors like Amazon and Google will be watching closely, and Sonos is aiming to tempt some to go for its discounted Sonos One 2-pack, which is due to get AirPlay 2 support later this year. This is a $50 discount on the regular price.
