Slow Horses lands season 6 renewal on Apple TV+

Apple TV+ just wrapped up season 4 of Slow Horses last week. Around now, a season 5 renewal might be expected—except Apple’s ahead of the game. Long before season 5 even airs, Slow Horses has just been renewed for a season 6.

Two new seasons of Slow Horses on the way

Slow Horses has become one of the most beloved series on Apple TV+. And fortunately, Apple keeps giving it more seasons.

Apple had previously green-lit season 5 and wasted no time shooting the forthcoming season.

Last week when season 4 ended, Apple debuted the first season 5 trailer. The new season isn’t expected to arrive until some time in 2025.

But now it’s great to see that season 6 is confirmed too.

Season 6 will be based on two novels

Max Goldbart reports for Deadline:

In Season 6, the spies head out on the run as Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge. The sixth season will be based on two of Mick Herron’s novels, Joe Country and Slough House, which are the sixth and seventh in the book series.

It’s interesting that Apple will base the new season on two of Herron’s novels rather than just one. Currently there are eight novels in the Slough House series, so Apple is quickly catching up with Herron’s writing.

So far, every season of Slow Horses has been six episodes long. Season 6, with its longer source material, could have been a good opportunity to change that. But alas, Apple has confirmed the plan is for another six-episode run.

In any case, Slow Horses is the first Apple TV+ show to hit the six season mark. Its shorter seasons have made that easier, but I personally wouldn’t mind more series that have shorter, more frequent runs.
