Siri saves Florida man who crawled to rescue for two days after stroke

70-year-old Daniel Vallaire of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, credits Siri with helping save his life after he experienced a stroke and was left immobile and alone for nearly three days last July.

Vallaire says he spent two days crawling from the bathroom to the living room for help, going in and out of consciousness as he fought for his life.

It turns out it was Siri who finally helped him phone his daughter, who had moved from Florida to California a week before her father’s health scare.

“I said, ‘Hey Siri, call Victoria Vallaire. And she did,” Vallaire says. “If this would have happened without it, I wouldn’t be here.”

Last week, Vallaire reunited with the first responders and medical crew who came to his aid after Siri helped him call for help. His daughter has since returned to Florida following Vallaire’s near-death experience.

Apple has long supported activating Siri with the “Hey Siri” voice command. More recently, Apple has added the ability to simply say “Siri” to invoke the virtual voice assistant.
