Apple’s F1 movie is getting a rare IMAX re-release next month

F1 The Movie is easily Apple’s biggest theatrical success to date, and now it seems the film will seek to extend its run even longer with an IMAX re-release. Here are the details.

F1 is back in IMAX theaters starting August 8

If you visit a movie theater today, F1 The Movie is still available and performing well in many theaters across the world. It’s currently well on its way toward hitting $500 million at the global box office.

And a new announcement confirms Apple isn’t yet ready to bring the film to Apple TV+ just yet.

As reported by Deadline, IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond just revealed that F1 is getting a large screen re-release soon.

F1 The Movie will be back in IMAX theaters starting Friday, August 8.

Though you can still catch F1 in many “standard” theaters, its IMAX run was abbreviated due to other major summer blockbusters taking up those premium screens.

The announcement was made as part of IMAX’s quarterly earnings call. The company attributed its successful quarter to profitable outings from F1, Sinners, and the latest Mission Impossible film.

If you’ve been waiting for F1 The Movie to hit Apple TV+, this IMAX re-release will offer one more chance to catch the film on the big screen it was made for.
