Some users on Reddit and elsewhere are reporting that the search function in Apple’s Calendar app is broken in iOS 26.
Those affected say that no search results are found. A workaround has been successful for some, but not for all …
Redditor Electronic-Squash359 writes:
I was trying to backdate some lessons and try to understand how many I have done with a particular student called Claudia – we have easily done a lesson per week for the past 2 years. When I try to search her (and many other students), I get nothing in the search results…but, as you can see, the lessons are there.
Others replied that the same thing is happening to them after they updated to iOS 26.
An Apple Support Communities user said that the company has acknowledged the issue.
I noticed this too in iOS 26 on my iPhone 17 Pro Max and on a few of my other colleagues’ iPhones for confirmation. I was on a long call with Apple Support this afternoon and they also realised there was a problem after 30 mins of “checking”.
Some report that autocomplete based on previous calendar entries also doesn’t work. Normally, when you start typing a new calendar entry and previous ones are found with the same initial wording, it will display these as suggestions.
One solution has been found which fixes the problem for many, but not for all.
Go to Settings > Apps > Calendar > Search, turn off the two settings there, reboot your device and turn those settings back on. Wait a few minutes for the search index to rebuild.
I followed these steps and initially I didn’t see it was fixed. Tried searching again in 30 minutes and everything (search) works again.
