Update, October 29, 10:11 p.m. ET: The AMA has been postponed “to next month,” with a new date to be announced soon. The original post follows below.
The Apple Music subreddit has announced an AMA with Adam Silver, who has led the platform’s product development for nearly a decade. Here’s how to join in.
An opportunity to discuss recent Apple Music features
As the post notes, Silver has overseen features such as AutoMix, Lyrics Translation & Pronunciation, Music Pins, and Sing with iPhone Mic for the last 7 years.

I get that the focus for them as devs these days is the streaming service, but we oldies who are still all about curating our personal collection of files gathered by ripping CDs & buying files really REALLY rely on the macOS Music app to work properly for local organization, playback, and sync'ing to devices like the phones. Given that these are current features of current products (IE- we're talking about current Macs and iPhones, not obsolete iPods), I was very surprised at how many things broke going from macOS 15 to macOS Tahoe (26). Just really basic things related to playback, dragging songs, sorting, etc. Just basic stuff. I've sent the usual bug reports to Apple and also asked relevant questions on the Apple support forums (just to get it out there and seen by more eyes), so I certainly hope they fix this stuff. Beyond that, I've been using Apple's stuff for my music collection, organizing, playback, and syncing since 2001, and Apple stuff in general since 1983, and the ONLY thing that would ever get me to abandon the Apple ecosystem is if my non-streaming music usage becomes impossible. I know I'm not alone on this, so I really hope they get with it and properly TEST all the non-streaming functionality of the app that we non-streamers use before releasing the next version.
He’ll be taking questions on October 30 at 2:15 p.m. ET. In his official invitation, Silver wrote:
“Hey there! A bit about me: I’ve been at Apple Music for 7 years, focusing on our core experience. It’s a huge responsibility, and I feel incredibly lucky to work on a product I’m deeply passionate about. This last release was a thrill to deliver, and I’m eager to hear what you think and answer any questions.Feel free to ask me about this release, how any of the features work, how we think about product development, or anything else that’s on your mind. I’ll do my best to tell you what I know, or refer you to the folks who know best.”
Even though we are a little less than a couple of days away from the AMA session, the post already has well over 400 comments, so if you’ve got a burning Apple Music-related question on your own, you might want to head over there sooner rather than later.
Given his description of what to expect from the Reddit AMA, Silver likely won’t respond to tech support requests or aggressive criticisms of the platform. But if you’re curious about how some of its recent features came to be, this will be your chance to hear about it straight from the source.
