iPadOS 26.2 RC and more now available ahead of coming launch

Apple has just debuted the RC (release candidate) versions of its various 26.2 software updates, including iPadOS 26.2 and more. Here’s what to expect.

What to expect from iPadOS 26.2 RC and more

We’re getting close to the public launches for iOS 26.2 and its companion updates.

Today’s RC versions are expected to be the final builds before the public launches, unless critical bugs force Apple to ship updated RCs later on.

Two weeks ago, iPadOS 26.2 beta 3 brought a welcome feature upgrade: drag and drop support for Split View and Slide Over multitasking returned.

When iPadOS 26.0’s new windowing system debuted, Apple dropped support for the old drag and drop gestures to initiate multitasking. It’s been great having them back in 26.2.

It’s not expected that today’s RC updates will include any big features along those lines. Rather, Apple is likely focusing on bug fixes and performance improvements with the launch around the corner.

With iPadOS 26.2, watchOS 26.2, tvOS 26.2, and visionOS 26.2 expected to ship to all users in the next week or so, we’ve likely seen the last of big new features for now.

That said, smaller changes are always still possible. We’ll keep you posted on anything we discover in this latest round of updates.
