Studio Display refresh looms with three key upgrades

Apple’s long-awaited Studio Display refresh might be happening soon. As noted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, shipping times for Apple’s Studio Display are slipped to late February and Early March in some configurations…

In today’s edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman writes:

While we’re on the subject of Macs, there are a couple of additional developments worth noting. Apple’s entry-level Studio Display is also in short supply, both online and in stores, with new shipments not expected until late February or early March.

Gurman also reiterates his prior reporting that the Studio Display refresh is “slated for a launch in the first half of 2026.”

This is just the latest piece of evidence to suggest an imminent Studio Display refresh. An unreleased Apple external display was spotted in regulatory filings last month.

In December, a rumor suggested that the new Studio Display will have three key changes:

  1. A19 chip
  2. ProMotion with a 120Hz refresh rate
  3. HDR support

In addition to the refreshed Studio Display, we’re also waiting on Apple to release the M5 Pro and M5 Max models of the MacBook Pro. Gurman says this update is imminent, as highlighted this morning.
