Apple TV unveils Anya Taylor-Joy’s first big series since The Queen’s Gambit

Apple TV is hosting a major media event today, and it just unveiled the highly-anticipated series Lucky, which stars Anya Taylor-Joy in her first big show since The Queen’s Gambit.

Lucky arrives on Apple TV this summer, based on hit novel

One of Apple TV’s most successful films to date is The Gorge, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller.

Teller is making his Apple TV return in another film premiering next week: Eternity.

While Anya Taylor-Joy will star in an upcoming limited series that Apple just unveiled: Lucky.

Lucky premieres on Apple TV on Wednesday, July 15 with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases through August 19.

The series is based on the bestselling novel by Marissa Stapley. It marks star Anya Taylor-Joy’s first big TV role since her breakout turn in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit. Other cast members include Annette Bening and Timothy Olyphant.

Here’s the official summary for Lucky, followed by the first trailer:

When a multi-million-dollar heist goes sideways, con artist Lucky (Anya Taylor-Joy) is forced to go on the run. Pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, Lucky must fight for her life — and a way out.

Lucky was co-written by Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas. Tropper is the showrunner for another Apple TV hit, Your Friends & Neighbors, which dropped its season 2 trailer yesterday and secured a season 3 pickup.
