You can now access F1 TV with your Apple TV account, here’s how to set it up

About a month ahead of first Grand Prix of the season, Formula 1 fans can now link their Apple TV account with F1.TV, in order to start enjoying the F1.TV platform at the Premium tier at no extra charge; Premium used to cost $129 per year.

This rollout is part of Apple’s exclusive streaming partnership deal with Formula 1 in the United States. To get started, sign up to Apple TV here and then go here to link it to your F1.TV account.

The F1.TV Premium tier package is the league’s highest-level offering, including features like 4K resolution, multi-view, onboard radio feeds and more.

In the United States, it is no longer available separately. You must sign up to Apple TV in order to be able to access it. However, a yearly subscription to Apple TV ($99) is actually cheaper than what Premium cost last season ($129).

To link your subscription to your F1.TV account, simply make sure you have your existing Apple Account details and your F1 TV account. Navigate to this page in a web browser , and click the ‘Activate’ button. You can also do the linking process through the F1.TV mobile app on iPhone or Android.

Your Apple TV subscription is eligible for free F1.TV, whether you subscribe directly, as part of the Apple One bundle, or other means like carrier promotions.

The launch is timely as broadcasts of the pre-season testing sessions will start next week. So that means die-hard Formula 1 fans in the US can now be ready to tune in.

When the actual Grand Prix weekends start in March, you’ll have the choice of how to watch the live sport. You can either use the F1.TV experience, or watch directly inside the Apple TV app. More casual viewers will probably be fine watching through the integrated Apple TV app streams, but the option is there if they want to dive deeper into the Formula 1 experience through F1.TV.

F1.TV includes other content like an archive of past races that Apple will not make available through the TV app directly. But by being able to link your Apple account to F1.TV, fans do not miss out on being able to watch any of the content they enjoy. Fans of both Apple TV and F1 now save a considerable chunk of change. Previously, subbing to both services would cost over $200 a year. Now, you only need to pay for Apple TV, which is $12.99 per month or $99 annually.
