iOS 26.4.2 could launch soon as next iPhone update

Apple recently released iOS 26.4.1 for iPhone users, but now it appears that another software update could be imminent: iOS 26.4.2 is coming soon.

Apple now testing iOS 26.4.2 internally, per 9to5Mac visitor logs

Whenever Apple is preparing a future software update for iOS, it tends to show up in the visitor logs for 9to5Mac.

That happens because testers inside Apple use the pre-release software on their iPhones and it’s logged by our internal site analytics.

Earlier this month, for example, iOS 26.4.1 was spotted internally just two days before launching for all users.

Now today, visitor logs from several users running iOS 26.4.2 have appeared. They’ve been spotted both in 9to5Mac logs as well as at MacRumors.

No details on the update are known yet, but it likely includes bug fixes of some sort.

Based on Apple’s history of testing these minor updates, we’re expecting iOS 26.4.2 to launch to all users some time in the coming week or two.

If it follows iOS 26.4.1’s pattern, the launch could be a matter of days rather than weeks.

Meanwhile, Apple continues to beta test iOS 26.5, which will bring a handful of new features for iPhone. That update is expected to ship around mid-May.
