Tim Cook explains iPhone 17’s success, 99% customer satisfaction

Another huge quarter for Apple came with across-the-board strong performance, but the iPhone 17 family was a big part of the company’s earnings. Here’s why Tim Cook says the iPhone 17 is performing so well, based on customer feedback.

Yesterday Apple revealed several key details related to the iPhone 17 family’s breakout success.

The company shared that the iPhone 17 lineup is officially the most popular in its history. And that it gained marketshare from Android during the quarter.

It also highlighted a major customer satisfaction achievement. Per Apple CFO Kevan Parekh, “customer satisfaction for the iPhone 17 family in the US was recently measured at 99% by 451 Research.”

99% customer satisfaction for the iPhone 17 line is a big win, which in part helps explain the sales success. If early adopters love the iPhone 17, they’ll inspire more people to upgrade too.

During the earnings call, one analyst asked CEO Tim Cook about the “impressive iPhone growth” Apple has been seeing. And his answer revealed what customers are telling Apple about the iPhone 17’s appeal.

Here’s Cook’s explanation:

Yeah, if you look at it, it’s the iPhone 17 family that’s driving it, and that is, as you point out, is despite the supply constraints that we’re experiencing. And the things that are driving people to the 17 are: people love the design, people love the performance, they love the durability, they love the camera, they love Center Stage, and they love that Apple Intelligence is integrated across the platform.

So per Tim Cook, customers are drawn to the iPhone 17 lineup because of five main things:

  1. Design
  2. Performance
  3. Durability
  4. Camera, with Center Stage specifically mentioned
  5. Apple Intelligence
