iOS 26.6 adds new alert when you try blocking too many contacts

iOS 26.6 beta 1 arrived today, and with iOS 27 right around the corner, it’s unsurprisingly very light on changes. But one difference was discovered by Aaron Perris: a new alert that appears in iOS 26.6 when you try to block one contact too many.

iOS 26.6 code reveals new alert when you’ve maxed out your blocked contacts

Apple doesn’t publicize this information, but iOS quietly enforces a limit on how many contacts you can add to your ‘blocked’ list.

Though the vast majority of users likely never hit that limit, iOS 26.6 adds a new alert for the few that do.

Here’s what it says, per Aaron Perris:

Blocked Contacts Limit Reached
You’ve reached the maximum number of blocked contacts. To block additional callers, remove a blocked contact in Settings.

This popup was uncovered by Perris as he reviewed the updated code Apple shipped in iOS 26.6 developer beta 1.

Here’s a screenshot of his discovery:

This is an extremely minor change. It’s only noteworthy because it does represent something new in iOS 26.6, a release that so far appears entirely void of other user-facing updates.

Have you ever hit the max limit in iOS for blocked contacts? Let us know in the comments.
