Apple has a big October ahead, with several major hardware and software launches coming. Here’s everything to expect from Apple in October.
iPhone Duo launches October 23
iPhone Duo is confirmed to arrive in users’ hands in October. Pre-orders open Friday, October 16 and the first units deliver on October 23.
Apple’s first foldable model might be limited in supply. However, iPhone Duo is launching in lots of countries simultaneously, which could be a good sign for availability. Per Apple:
Customers in more than 70 countries and regions, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Türkiye, the UAE, the UK, the U.S., and Vietnam, will be able to pre-order iPhone Duo beginning at 5 a.m. PT on Friday, October 16, with availability beginning Friday, October 23. iPhone Duo will be available in 28 other countries and regions beginning Friday, October 30.
If iPhone Duo supply was expected to be significantly lower than anticipated demand, it’s unlikely Apple would launch the product in close to 100 countries and regions right away.

Hardware rumors: New Macs, Home products, and iPad mini
Apple reportedly has a lot more new hardware products launching in October too. We’re expecting new Macs, Home products, and an upgraded iPad mini. Here’s what’s rumored:
- Touchscreen MacBook Pro / Ultra: All-new design for high-end MacBook with OLED, more
- M6 iMac: Powerful chip and new color options
- M6 MacBook Pro: Update for 14-inch base MacBook Pro
- New Apple TV 4K: A19 or A19 Pro chip, Siri AI, new Siri Remote
- HomePad: New home hub with built-in touchscreen
- HomePod mini 2: More powerful chip, audio upgrades, more
- iPad mini: OLED display, A19 Pro or A20 Pro chip
Two standout products include the first touchscreen Mac, which could be branded MacBook Pro or Ultra, and the long-expected home hub ‘HomePad.’ Everything else will be smaller updates to existing products.
Software launches: iOS 27.1 and iOS 27.2, more
Apple has confirmed that iPhone Duo will run on iOS 27.1 when it launches in October.
It’s speculated that 27.1 will be Duo-exclusive. However, it might come to other iPhones too, but only include bug fixes or security updates while the majority of changes are for Apple’s foldable.
Normally we would expect more features in iOS 27.1, but in an unusual move, iOS 27.2 is already in testing and is also expected to arrive in October. As a result, iOS 27.2 is likely intended for all iPhones while 27.1 is primarily for iPhone Duo.
New features in iOS 27.2 so far include:
- Profiles for the Apple TV app come to iPhone and iPad
- Dual Capture feature available for Group FaceTime calls
- Siri AI expands to several new languages
- New features for Apple Music, CarPlay Ultra, and more might be coming too
When iOS 27 launched, Apple confirmed that Siri AI “will expand to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish next month.“ Since that language expansion is included in iOS 27.2, we’re expecting both 27.1 and 27.2 to arrive before October ends.
The iOS 27.2 beta also includes an all-new Health app with Apple Intelligence features, but it’s expected to be removed from the shipping version and return in iOS 27.3 later this year instead.
