Apple Watch Series 12, Ultra 4 adding two new features soon

Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 have arrived, and later this year they’ll get even more powerful with two new features: Siri Recap and Live Rewind. Here are the details.

#1: Siri Recap

Siri AI is a major tentpole of watchOS 27, and later this year there’s a powerful Siri addition coming to Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. It’s called Siri Recap.

Here’s what it does, per Apple:

Siri Recap ambiently takes notes on your conversations throughout your day and creates high-level Apple Intelligence–generated summaries that you can use later to jog your memory, so you can stay present in the moment. Your summaries auto-delete after 7 days if you choose not to save them.

Siri Recap seems like the kind of feature that no one was necessarily asking for, but it could add valuable utility if the privacy protections are done right. You can read the finer details around privacy in Apple’s white paper here.

#2: Live Rewind

Live Rewind is another ‘Audio Intelligence’ feature coming to the new Apple Watch models later this year. It provides a more direct way to revisit something that was just said.

Here’s how it works per Apple:

Live Rewind recalls what was just said in the last 15 seconds by showing a text snippet on your Apple Watch when you double-press the Digital Crown, so you can catch something you missed or are less familiar with. You can ask Siri about the content of the snippet or simply save it to the Siri app.

Like Siri Recap, Apple has in-depth details on Live Rewind’s privacy protections outlined here. For me personally, the utility of Live Rewind seems less obvious beyond accessibility needs. But I’m interested to see how it works in its finished form.
