Apple’s new hardware October 13 won’t include one rumored product: report

New Apple products are reportedly launching October 13, including the rumored ‘HomePad’ device. But according to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, there’s one rumored product not coming next month: a new full-size HomePod with Siri AI.

Larger HomePod won’t be updated in October, but new version is coming ‘eventually’ per Bloomberg

HomePod with AI

Today Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple plans to announce three new Home products very soon.

New products coming include:

Tuesday, October 13 is the expected launch date for each product.

But there’s one key Home product that isn’t coming in October. Gurman writes:

Apple aims to eventually update its larger HomePod speaker as well.

That’s the only mention he makes of the larger HomePod product, which hasn’t been updated since 2023.

Just updated our HomePods to v27 (24J361). Years after purchase, audio quality remains outstanding. Used as stereo pair with AppleTV Gen2 and Bose soundbar w/ wireless sub and two rear speakers via AirPlay.

On the fence about the new release, hopefully worth the wait and the updates don't break the old Homies.

Earlier this year, Gurman reported that a new full-sized HomePod was in the works alongside the updated HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K. When asked about their arrival, he said: “Just a matter of time. They’ve wanted to get the Apple Intelligence and new Siri features working in those products before rolling out the new versions.”

But despite Siri AI officially launching, and support being ready for the HomePod mini, it seems fans of the large HomePod will have to wait a while longer for a Siri AI-compatible hardware update.

Hopefully the wait won’t be too long, because in just a couple of weeks, the full-size HomePod will be the only Home product left that’s limited to the old Siri.
