Watch F1 on Apple TV tonight, free for everyone in the US

The Bahrain Grand Prix is streaming for free on Apple TV this weekend, subscription not required. Rather amusingly, the location of the Bahrain Grand Prix is actually in Sepang, Malaysia.

Usually, F1 on Apple TV requires a paid subscription. But this weekend, it’s free for everyone to tune in. You can catch up on qualifying in preparation to stream the live race tonight, which kicks off at 3 AM Eastern Time.

All you need to watch is to get the Apple TV app on a compatible device, be in the United States, and stay up late enough to watch live.

Coverage starts at 1:50 AM Eastern Time, with the race scheduled to start at 3 AM Eastern Time. You can of course watch later on-demand, if you’d opt to go to bed at a reasonable hour.

You can get the Apple TV app on Apple devices, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox, Android and more. You can also watch in a web browser at tv.apple.com.

With qualifying happening earlier today, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has snatched pole position for the first time this season, with Lewis Hamilton taking second and championship leader Kim Antonelli in third. It’s Red Bull’s best chance at a race win so far this year.

You may be wondering why the Bahrain Grand Prix is being hosted in Malaysia. In a normal year, the Bahrain GP would have happened much earlier in the season. But due to the ongoing Iran war, the race was cancelled and the Bahrain organizers instead decided to sponsor a race elsewhere in the world instead.

Despite not being part of the official F1 calendar anymore, Sepang is a fan favourite circuit that should make for some exciting action on track.

Again, use the Apple TV app to tune in for free, no subscription required. The race starts at 3 AM Eastern Time, with broadcast coverage starting at 1:50 AM.
