Pages, Keynote, Numbers just added powerful new AI features

Apple is rolling out AI-centric updates to its iWork suite—Pages, Keynote, Numbers—that include a brand new ‘Intelligent Assistant’ with powerful capabilities. Here’s what it can do.

iWork apps debut new ‘Intelligent Assistant’ for Apple Creator Studio subscribers

Apple Intelligence

If you subscribe to Apple Creator Studio, Apple’s latest updates to Pages, Keynote, and Numbers today add an Intelligent Assistant—seemingly separate from Siri AI—that will help you in a variety of ways inside the apps.

Intelligent Assistant is available in beta in US English only, and requires iOS 27 or later.

Here’s what it can do in each of the iWork apps, per Apple’s release notes:

Pages — Intelligent Assistant features

  • Start a first draft, then edit, organize, and elevate your writing with an assistant that understands your document
  • Get guidance on where to start, learn how to use advanced features, or try a suggestion to see what’s possible
  • Draft a section, adjust your tone, or generate images and shapes using natural language
  • Search for up-to-date information on a topic and incorporate it into your document

Keynote — Intelligent Assistant features

  • Build your story, add animations, and refine your slides with an assistant that understands your presentation
  • Get guidance on where to start, learn how to use advanced features, or try a suggestion to see what’s possible
  • Generate slides, presenter notes, images, and shapes using natural language
  • Search for up-to-date information on a topic and incorporate it into your slides

Numbers — Intelligent Assistant features

  • Uncover insights, build complex formulas, and visualize your data with an assistant that understands your spreadsheet
  • Get guidance on where to start, learn how to use advanced features, or try a suggestion to see what’s possible
  • Generate tables, get chart suggestions, and get help with formulas using natural language
  • Search for up-to-date information on a topic and incorporate it into your spreadsheet

Beyond these AI features for Apple Creator Studio subscribers, Apple says all users can benefit from a new file format in Keynote.

Keynote will let you import and export presentations in a new Interchange Format (.keyx), which Apple says is an open file format that will make it easier to edit Keynote files in other apps.

I’ve updated all iWork apps and don’t yet see the Intelligent Assistant, but it’s possible there’s a server-side component that Apple will imminently activate.

Have you tried the Intelligent Assistant yet? How’s it working for you? Let us know in the comments.
