Apple’s Siri-related news hasn’t been great so far this year, but the company sounds confident it can turn things around. Here’s the Siri update that software head Craig Federighi reportedly shared in Apple’s all-hands meeting.
Craig Federighi shares encouraging update on Siri progress at all-hands meeting
Last week, Apple reported huge quarterly earnings. But concerns around the company’s AI efforts were still clearly on Wall Street’s minds. And no doubt those questions were partly what prompted a rare all-hands meeting at Apple Park shortly afterwards.
That meeting, which Bloomberg said was like an hourlong pep talk, included a key update from Siri’s new boss: Craig Federighi.
Here’s what Federighi told Apple staff, per Bloomberg:
“The work we’ve done on this end-to-end revamp of Siri has given us the results we needed,” the engineering executive told employees. “This has put us in a position to not just deliver what we announced, but to deliver a much bigger upgrade than we envisioned. There is no project people are taking more seriously.”
Last year in its iOS 18 presentation at WWDC, Apple introduced a ‘more personalized’ version of Siri with AI enhancements that would supercharge the assistant.
As Apple execs have since explained, the original path to building those features didn’t achieve the quality needed. So Apple pivoted to a brand new architecture.

Federighi can say whatever he wants, but it's what Apple delivers that actually matters.
They claimed that they had the AirPower Mat working too, and look how that turned out. Now this "Apple Intelligence" mess - using unfinished, not-even-working-internally features to advertise new hardware - should make every reasonable user / consumer reevaluate how much faith they're willing to put in Apple's statements about unreleased products.
Talk is cheap, and his words are worthless until Apple shows deliverables.
Though the “pep talk” context is important, Federighi’s claims here are nonetheless noteworthy. By his account, when Siri’s new features do finally arrive, they should be part of a much bigger Siri upgrade overall.
Federighi is now ultimately in charge of Siri, but Mike Rockwell is the one actively working to fix the assistant and set it up for a strong future.
Rumors currently indicate iOS 26.4 next spring will bring these Siri improvements. But Apple so far has only committed to a launch some time in 2026, meaning it could always be later.
