macOS Tahoe 26.2 now available, here’s everything new

Following a few weeks of beta testing, macOS Tahoe 26.2 is now rolling out to the general public. Here’s what’s new.

New Edge Light feature

macOS Tahoe 26.2 features a new Edge Light feature, which adds a virtual ring light to the Mac’s display when the user is in a video call. It also works with online-based streaming platforms, allowing users to customize the intensity, width, and temperature of the light.

When the user hovers the cursor above the ring light, that specific portion of the effect becomes dimmed, allowing the user to quickly access what is underneath it. This feature is available only on Mac models with Apple Silicon, and it offers an auto-enable feature for post-2024 Macs when the user is in a dark environment.

New low-latency cluster feature

As noted by Engaget, the update introduces “a new low-latency feature that lets you connect several Macs together using Thunderbolt 5”.

In addition to this, the update also enables full MLX access by M5 Macs, which should make AI development and use much more streamlined.

Many see this as yet another nail in the Mac Pro’s coffin. One way or another, macOS Tahoe 26.2 makes the Mac even more powerful for pro users, although the feature may be too niche for even a good portion of them.

General improvements

As usual, Apple is also ironing out bugs and performance issues from the previous version, as well as adopting cross-platform improvements, such as the “Urgent” reminders feature which also arrives today on iOS 26.2.

This feature lets users flip an “Urgent” toggle when setting up a reminder, which in turn triggers the standard system alarm, and you can read more about it here.
