Apple buys two new Cupertino buildings, pushing recent local real estate spend past $1B

As Apple’s expansion in the South Bay continues, the company has now acquired two more office buildings for a combined $216 million. Here are the details.

Apple’s real estate push continues

For the past few months, Apple has been on a bit of a real estate shopping spree.

Since July, it has picked up the $365 million four-building Mathilda Campus, another pair of neighboring buildings for $350 million, and the $166 million three-building Cupertino Gateway complex.

Now, SiliconValley.com reports that the company has shelled out $216 million to acquire two more office buildings, this time on Stevens Creek Boulevard, pushing its real estate spend in the area past $1 billion since June.

Together, the buildings at 19319 and 19339 Stevens Creek Blvd. add up to 266,500 square feet, and according to official documents filed earlier this week, Apple paid in cash.

When asked for comment, Kristina Raspe, Apple’s vice president of Global Real Estate and Facilities, said:

The Santa Clara Valley has been our home for nearly 50 years, and we’re proud to continue investing in world-class facilities here that are designed to foster innovation and collaboration amongst our team members in support of our customers around the world.

Apple also reportedly said that, with this acquisition, its Bay Area expansion will “exceed 1.5 million square feet of office and lab space” this year alone.
