Shrinking season 3 coming next week, and reviews say it’s as strong as ever
When it comes to comedies on Apple TV, the first show that likely comes to mind is the wildly successful Ted Lasso.
Apple is expected to premiere Ted Lasso season 4 later this year. But for fans of Lasso, your next-best watch is coming much sooner.
Shrinking season 3 premieres next week on Wednesday, January 28 with a special hour-long episode. New episodes will then drop weekly through April 8.
The comedy hails from Bill Lawrence, co-creator of Ted Lasso, and feels like a spiritual sibling to Lasso. Shrinking’s first two seasons are beloved by critics and viewers alike, and early reviews for season 3 indicate Lawrence has delivered yet again.

- RogerEbert.com: “in a time when it feels like we could all use a shoulder to lean on, [Shrinking] feels increasingly like a balm for troubled times, a reminder that nothing is more important in this world than the people we love.”

Does Shrinking set up a possible season 4?
Critics who reviewed season 3 were able to watch all 11 episodes. And many of them commented on whether the show sets up another season.
Reviews indicate that while Shrinking’s third season does neatly wrap up characters’ arcs, it also very much leaves open the possibility of a season 4.
Speaking about a possible fourth season previously, Bill Lawrence said the following:
One of the fun things that we’ve done, because we’re in the writers room already for Season 3, is we’re putting Easter eggs in it as to what the new story that starts Season 4 is about. One of the cool things about streaming, what you can do now, is do a three-season story that has a beginning, middle and end. If people love those characters, there’s plenty stories to tell.
Apple hasn’t yet announced a renewal for season 4. However, the show’s success makes it highly likely that Shrinking will continue on for years to come.
