Nvidia details CloudXR for visionOS 26.4, enabling ‘Immersive for Autodesk VRED’ app

Last week, we learned that visionOS 26.4 enables Nvidia’s CloudXR 6.0 technology on Apple Vision Pro. Now Nvidia is officially announcing its work with Apple, which enables a new “Immersive for Autodesk VRED” app and more.

CloudXR for visionOS

At a high level, Nvidia’s CloudXR 6.0 is the first software development kit developed in partnership with Apple that allows sharing user gaze data. Nvidia’s SDK enables doing so over a private and secure connection.

This allows foveated streaming at 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate without being tethered to a PC. Nvidia is also providing multi-platform Xcode templates to accelerate development. This means app makers can build once and deploy on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro.

Nvidia says it’s building on top of the phenomenal standalone fidelity of Apple Vision Pro to meet true-to-reality enterprise demands:

At the NVIDIA GTC global AI conference running this week in San Jose, NVIDIA and Apple
detailed how visionOS now supports NVIDIA CloudXR with foveated streaming, enabling
apps to display high-resolution, low-latency immersive content on Apple Vision Pro. This
feature intelligently optimizes rendering resolution based on approximately where the user
is looking, while strictly protecting user gaze data.

Demanding XR and spatial computing workloads share three critical requirements:
uncompromised high-fidelity visuals at 4K resolution, real-time response rates and full
immersion. CloudXR for visionOS enables all three.

We already learned how X-Plane 12 brings the “world’s most advanced flight simulator” to Apple Vision Pro using Nvidia’s CloudXR technology, and iRacing will similarly join the enthusiast gaming space for visionOS.

Beyond advanced gameplay

Beyond advanced gameplay, Nvidia details multiple enterprise applications across industries including automotive and manufacturing design with 1:1 scale collaborative reviews and industrial digital twin engineers.

For example, VOLVO is using a new “Immersive for Autodesk VRED” Apple Vision Pro app that will soon come to the App Store.

With this new integration, users can put on Apple Vision Pro and augment their spatial
computing workflow with apps like Immersive for Autodesk VRED, enabled by Innoactive’s
XR streaming solutions, automatically and natively streaming from NVIDIA RTX
technologies — ranging from NVIDIA RTX PRO workstations to GeForce RTX GPUs — on
PCs or in the cloud. […]

mmersive for Autodesk VRED, coming later this spring, is enabled by Autodesk with
Innoactive, to transform the design review process for automotive giants including BMW Group, Kia, Rivian and Volvo Group. Designers using Autodesk VRED can now visualize
massive models with RTX-powered ray tracing at a 1:1 scale in Apple Vision Pro.

Nvidia also points to Foxconn, which is using the technology to visualize factory floor walkthroughs, and Switch, which is working on remote data center management using digital twin technology. Other applications extend to healthcare.
