OpenAI teases next AI announcement coming today, here’s what to expect

OpenAI has teased its next AI software product announcement happening later today. The teaser gives us a good idea of what to expect.

OpenAI expected to unveil gpt-image-2 today, enhancing AI image generation

The company shared what looks like a screenshot of ChatGPT running in Chrome on macOS.

However, the image caption insists that this is not actually a screenshot.

Instead, OpenAI appears to be teasing its new gpt-image-2 AI image generation technology. In correct, OpenAI has greatly improved on generating text and realistic UI for image generation from text prompts.

The subject-matter, macOS, also shows OpenAI’s focus on serving developers right now. Agentic coding is a thing, and agentic design (or at least mockups) is next.

We’ll see exactly what OpenAI has planned later today. The teaser points to an announcement happening this afternoon at noon PT, or 3 p.m. ET.

In the meantime, we’ll ponder why this isn’t macOS Tahoe and instead shows 2024’s macOS Sequoia UI.
