Apple just released new AirPods Max 2 firmware

Last week Apple shipped new firmware for AirPods Pro 3, and now today AirPods Max 2 have gotten a fresh firmware update too.

New AirPods Max 2 firmware update now available

AirPods Max 2 owners, Apple has new firmware available to install today.

The previous firmware version was build 8E251, and today’s new release is 8E258.

No details have been shared about what’s included in this latest firmware.

Apple publishes AirPods firmware release notes on this page, but it’s yet to be updated with the latest release details.

Most firmware builds simply include “Bug fixes and other improvements.”

That’s what last week’s AirPods Pro 3 firmware said, and it was the same one-liner given for the last AirPods Max 2 firmware release.

How to install AirPods Max firmware

Here are Apple’s instructions for triggering an AirPods Max firmware update:

  1. Make sure that your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is updated to the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS, and that Bluetooth is on.
  2. Make sure that your AirPods Max are connected via Bluetooth to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
  3. Connect your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to Wi-Fi.
