tvOS 27 could push you to upgrade to new Apple TV 4K

tvOS 27 is coming next month as the next software version for Apple TV owners. And for two reasons, the update could push you to upgrade to a new Apple TV 4K.

Siri AI and tvOS 27 dropping older models make it a good time to upgrade Apple TV 4K

When it comes to new software releases, the Apple TV tends to not get nearly as much attention as Apple’s other products. That’s understandable, since it’s a much smaller business for Apple than the iPhone, Mac, iPad, and even Apple Watch.

But tvOS 27 is expected to have some compelling upgrades, even though the biggest changes haven’t yet been announced.

Apple is rumored to have a variety of AI features coming in tvOS 27, headlined by the new Siri AI.

When Siri AI was unveiled at WWDC, it was announced for every Apple platform except two: Apple TV and HomePod. Reporting indicates that’s because Apple is about to launch new Apple TV 4K and HomePod hardware that will be required to unlock the overhauled Siri.

Based on Apple’s stated goals for Siri AI, the assistant in tvOS should be able to do all the same things it can do on other platforms. That will make for a big upgrade from its current, limited functionality.

Siri and other AI upgrades in tvOS 27 make me excited to buy the new Apple TV 4K that’s coming.

Are you seriously making an article celebrating that older models are not being supported forcing users to buy a new one (which increased its price by 50%)?

I keep getting surprised by your delusional fanboy takes, not supporting older models will force most people to look into alternatives before spending $200 on a streaming box, we don’t even know the features the new model will bring but you’re already trying to sell it.

But there’s another reason tvOS 27 could spark a wave of new Apple TV purchases: its lack of support for older models.

The new software doesn’t support the Apple TV HD or the first-gen Apple TV 4K. Those are two popular models that many households are likely still running.

Combine the AI-exclusive features of the new Apple TV 4K with tvOS 27 dropping support for popular models, and it could be an ideal time to upgrade hardware.
