Apple is about to launch Home product overhaul I’ve wanted for years

A new Bloomberg report earlier this week confirmed what’s long been expected: Apple’s major new push into Home products will kick off soon. And I’m thrilled by what rumors say is coming.

Seven new Home products reportedly in the works as Apple expands lineup

During my two decades using Apple devices, there’s one main product category that’s long felt like it never met its potential: home products.

The first Apple TV was introduced the same day as the iPhone, and by Steve Jobs’ admission it was a “hobby” device rather than a major swing. Later, the Apple TV was joined by HomePod to expand the Apple Home lineup.

But this fall, Apple will reportedly start unveiling a major overhaul of its Apple Home lineup that I’ve long been asking for.

Here are seven rumored products that could launch in the year ahead:

The majority of these devices have long been rumored to be ready, but pushed back until Apple’s new Siri launches.

It’s been a long wait, but Siri AI is finally here and shipping in iOS 27 this fall.

New Home products are reportedly not far behind it, with fall launches set for the new HomePad, Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini.

I want to get excited but we keep hearing this story again and again. September will come, we’ll get phones and watches. Then it will be rumoured there is an October/November event which either doesn’t happen or ends up being something else — Mac minis, or Macbook Pros, maybe some version of the iPad, something like that. Then it’s ‘There’s time for a Holiday event’ which doesn’t pan out. Next thing you know it’s February and the rumour is they are releasing them in a surprise March event. I’ve grown tired of waiting for these rumours to pan out, wake me up when the One More Thing actually turns up.

The larger HomePod and security camera seem like decent bets to launch soon too. The latter is hinted at by iOS 27’s new HomeKit Secure Video features.

I love the idea of putting Apple smart home products all over my house. But until now, Apple’s limited efforts in this area have kept me from getting too invested.

Now that it sounds like Apple is going all-in on the smart home, I’m excited to do so too.
