MagSafe Monday: TESSAN’s 6-in-1 charging station replaces every charger on your desk

One hub/cord to rule them all is a goal most people have for their desk. The TESSAN Magic 65W Charging Station is built to collapse your pile of cords into a single compact hub, and a couple of its design details are really handy as well if you like to hide your power cables. Let’s take a look at it.

MagSafe Monday: Every Monday, Bradley Chambers looks at the latest and greatest in the MagSafe and wireless charging industry to help you get the most out of your Apple devices that support wireless charging.

The Magic 65-watt brings six charging options into one base: two traditional AC outlets, two USB-C ports, a USB-A port, and a MagSafe wireless charging stand. The main USB-C port delivers up to 65 watts, which is enough to fast-charge a MacBook Air or an iPad, so you can leave your power brick in your bag. Keep in mind that 65 watts is the max from that single port, so expect the power to be shared if/when you have several devices plugged in at the same time.

The two AC outlets are a nice touch here for a desk setup, since an external monitor, lamp, or speaker can plug right into the base station. This is super handy if you are trying to snake cables under your desk, etc.

A magnetic stand with a single trade-off

The MagSafe wireless charger doubles as a stand that tilts up to 65 degrees, which puts your iPhone at a nice angle for FaceTime, watching a YouTube Short, or Standby mode. It also handles AirPods charging at 5 watts.

Here’s the trade-off worth knowing before you buy: this isn’t Qi2 certified, so iPhone wireless charging tops out at 7.5W. If you’ve moved to a Qi2 or Qi2.2 charger elsewhere in your house, this will feel slow compared to them. For a quick top-off, it’ll be slow, but for an all-day or overnight charge, it’ll be fine.

The Apple Watch charger, which is built into the station and can be pulled out for use or tucked back in when you don’t need it. I personally don’t wear an Apple Watch, so I love when it’s optional. That’s one less cable dangling off the side of your desk if you do wear one, though

One of my favorite details is that it has a 0.32-inch ultra-thin flat plug with a 45-degree right-angle design, so the hub can sit flush behind the desk without sticking out from the wall. It also leaves the other outlet on the wall plate open.

Wrap up

The TESSAN Magic 65W Charging Station isn’t the fastest MagSafe charger you can buy, and it doesn’t try to be. What it does well is consolidate your charging and power for your desk, including your external monitor, lamp, and other Apple gear.
