“Wallpaper” is a Windows term; I would hope that Mac-specific sites would refer to them properly as “Desktop Pictures.”
Check out the Settings app on iOS and you’ll find a Wallpapers section :)
My mac says ‘Desktop Pictures’ iOS says ‘Wallpaper’ though.

I *think* National Geographic has a role in these photos if I’m not mistake. Would be neat to see the originals and the metadata.
I’m pretty sure it’s in South India near the road from Wayanad into Kerala, near Lakkidi Viewpoint. Here’s a snapshot I took there:
