Drop, a color picker for macOS, has launched today with support for the new MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar. Built by the Tapity app development team, Drop serves as lightweight tool allowing user’s to quickly select and grab colors on-screen, while also switching between a multitude of color formats. Colors grabbed can be added to the palette and automatically copied to the clipboard.
Developers and designers know that sometimes grabbing a few colors and saving them quickly can be a pain, and Drop solves just that. No more having to write things down, or searching for the HEX versus RGB color format variation as Drop includes everything right into the app. Upon launching the app, simply click the eyedropper and move the cursor over the color you’d like to grab. Scrolling in and out with the mouse or trackpad allows the loupe-style cursor to get further in and granular with what color you’re hunting after.
A longer breakdown on Drop can be seen below:
Designers and developers use color pickers on their Mac many times per day to collect inspiring colors, organize colors for a project, and get color values to use in their code. Drop is a new color picker by Tapity’s Apple Design Award winning team that makes that process more convenient, more accurate, and much faster. It also could be the reason a developer or designer might pick up a Touch Bar enabled MacBook Pro.
Key Features:
- Zoom: With the color picker enabled, use your scroll wheel to control the magnification level — this is for those times when you need to get the color of that one pixel border
- Copy: Instantly copy the color to your clipboard in your desired format, including Swift, Objective-C, and web formats
- Save: Save colors to the color palette to use later
- Create: adjust a color or create an entirely new color instead of picking from something on the screen
- Shortcuts: Create universal keyboard shortcuts so that your picker and colors are just a keystroke away from any app you are using
- Accuracy: Change the color profile based on the source app to get the most accurate colors. Yes, different apps use different color profiles so Apple’s default color picker can actually give you the wrong color value based on screen color preferences and the app you are using. We make recommendations on what color profile to use for common apps.
- Touch Bar: Have quick access to the common colors you are working with from the Touch Bar, as well as quick access to the picker, and the ability to create or adjust colors right in the touch bar
Drop is available in the Mac App Store today and on sale for a launch price of $3.99 (50% off the regular price). For more information on Drop, be sure to check out http://dropcolorpicker.com.
