Apple publishes new guide on how to use the HomePod [Video]

After a handful of how-to videos last week, Apple has now published a new HomePod video on its Apple Support YouTube channel covering how to get the most out of the smart speaker, noting that Siri will be your main interface with the device.

The guide goes in-depth on what commands to use, such as asking Siri to play a song, artist, genre, or playlist. It goes on to say that Siri is capable of playing podcasts, while asking for a specific episode or the latest episode of a show.

Aside from Siri, it also mentions that you can use your iPhone or iPad to control HomePod, even if the device in question is not the one AirPlaying to the device. To achieve this, go to the Music app, and tap the AirPlay icon. Or you can swipe down (on iPhone X), or up (on older iPhones), to invoke Control Center, 3D Touch or long press the media controls and tap the HomePod you’d like to control from there.

The video goes on to mention several other things such as handing off a call from your iPhone, setting timers, or creating notes right from HomePod, with Siri. It closes out the video by demonstrating how to skip, play, or stop playing music by using your voice.

Of course, for the master list of HomePod tips and tricks, be sure to check out Jeff’s most recent video right here.

HomePod has been getting generally positive reviews from audiophiles and the tech community alike. The device costs $349, and comes in space gray or white. I personally own more HomePods than I am willing to admit, but am thoroughly enjoying them for podcasts and music playback.
