Just buy a new iPad mini? Upgrade the experience with these 7 accessories

Apple just launched the latest iPad mini. The new A17 Pro model will be set for Apple Intelligence. Like all iPads, the mini is at its best when paired with accessories. The Apple Pencil Pro is a great starting place, but here are seven more of the best accessories to upgrade your iPad mini experience.

Portable keyboard with trackpad

Apple doesn’t make a Magic Keyboard for the iPad mini. And honestly, such a keyboard might be too small to be of any benefit anyways.

My recommendation for an iPad mini keyboard is the iClever Foldable Keyboard with Trackpad. You get a solid typing experience, the advantage of a built-in trackpad for navigating iPadOS, and it easily folds up for taking on the go.

Cases for protection and built-in stands

ESR provides two great options for iPad mini cases that meet different style and versatility needs.

There’s a Magnetic Folio Case that works a lot like Apple’s Smart Folios. It provides protection on the front and back of the iPad mini, and you can trifold the cover so it doubles as a stand.

ESR also offers a Clear Case with Kickstand that lets your iPad mini’s color shine through, and the kickstand supports several viewing positions.

Fast charging essentials

The new iPad mini supports fast charging, but not with the 20W brick that comes with the device.

I recommend Anker’s 65W charging brick to get the best performance for fast charging. And since it’s USB-C, you can use the same brick to fast charge your MacBook or iPhone too.

If you’re like me, the 1m charging cables Apple provides feel too short for everyday use. You can pick up a 6.6ft USB-C cable from Baseus to solve that.

USB-C hub for expanded I/O

The iPad mini includes a USB-C port that can do a lot more than just charge your device.

Anker makes a great 6-in-1 USB-C hub that provides not only more USB-C ports, but also USB-A, HDMI, and Ethernet. Alternately, there’s a 7-in-1 model that trades Ethernet for SD and microSD card slots.

Wrap-up: iPad mini accessories

Apple’s new iPad mini with A17 Pro is now available to order starting at $499. It will arrive in users’ hands on Wednesday, October 23. The Apple Pencil Pro is currently on sale for just $95, down from $129.
