Apple confirms expanded language support for Apple Intelligence coming in April 2025 and beyond

Apple has just released iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 with the first set of Apple Intelligence tools. However, they are only available in English for now. Although the company had previously said it will add more languages in 2025, Apple has just confirmed when exactly they will be added.

More languages coming to Apple Intelligence next year

According to Apple, support for more languages will come to Apple Intelligence in April 2025. The news was confirmed by the company itself in a press release about Apple Intelligence.

Currently, Apple Intelligence only works in US English. With iOS 18.2, which is currently in beta, support will be expanded to English from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK. This update is expected to be released in December, as stated by the company.

In April and throughout next year, Apple Intelligence will also work in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese and more. Apple says that support for these languages will arrive with a free software update:

Apple Intelligence is quickly adding support for more languages. In December, Apple Intelligence will be available for localized English in AustraliaCanadaIrelandNew ZealandSouth Africa, and the U.K., and in April, a software update will deliver expanded language support, with more coming throughout the year. Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and other languages will be supported.

With iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1, users can take advantage of Writing Tools to modify and proofread texts, as well as text summarization and notifications. The updates also include Clean Up in the Photos app.

iOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2 will bring even more Apple Intelligence features, including Image Playgrounds, Genmoji and ChatGPT integration.

It’s worth noting that Apple Intelligence requires an iPhone 15 Pro or later, or Macs and iPads with the M1 chip or later. The new iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip is also compatible with the AI features.
