Apple Music expands live, hosted radio with three new stations

Apple Music has announced an expansion of its radio offerings today, with three brand new stations featuring live hosts and curation.

New radio stations are free for all, no subscription necessary

Within Apple Music, users will find algorithmic ‘radio stations’ based on artists you like. You might see stations, for example, based on Taylor Swift, or even your own personal station based on your listening history.

But in the more traditional sense of the word ‘radio,’ Apple also offers radio stations with live hosts and human-curated music. Examples include:

  • Apple Music 1
  • Apple Music Hits
  • Apple Music Country

Today Apple is expanding its radio offerings with three brand new stations:

Apple Música Uno “speaks directly to the wealth of stylistic diversity in Latin music around the world.” Apple Music Club “is home to anyone who loves dance and electronic music, as well as club culture.” Apple Music Chill “is an escape, a refuge, a sanctuary in sound — a place listeners can turn to throughout their day.”

Here’s Apple Music’s VP, Oliver Schusser:

“Apple Music Radio is the beating heart of our service, representing the intersection of exceptional human voices and curation with cutting-edge technology that shapes and influences culture,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Music, Sports, and Beats. “We put a lot of time and care into making sure these new radio stations are really bespoke, highly curated, and hosted by some of the world’s best music commentators with unique programming that we know our listeners will love.”

These Apple Music Radio stations are available globally, and they don’t even require an Apple Music subscription. They’re available free for all users to enjoy.
