Following the launch of the new M4 iMac and Mac mini, Apple has one more announcement today. In a press release, the company officially unveiled its new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro lineup powered by the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.

Last week, Apple started beta testing the next round of Apple Intelligence capabilities with iOS 18.2. Apple has since confirmed that these Apple Intelligence features and iOS 18.2 will launch to everyone in December.
After three months of beta testing, iOS 18.1 with the first Apple Intelligence features is now available to everyone. This update includes features like Writing Tools, Clean Up in the Photos app, notification summaries, and much more.

With the release of iOS 16 in 2022, Apple removed the volume slider from the iPhone Lock Screen except while using AirPlay. In iOS 18.2, however, Apple has decided to bring back that capability with a new “Always Show Volume Control” option in the Settings app.

While Apple is planning its first M4 Macs for next week, that momentum is set to carry over to 2025. Bloomberg today reports that Apple is set to unveil a new MacBook Air powered by the M4 chip in early 2025, while the timeline for an updated Mac Studio has slipped to the second quarter of the year.
Update: In a statement to 9to5Mac, an Apple spokesperson said the company strongly disagrees with the CFPB’s “characterization of Apple’s conduct.” Nonetheless, the two have “aligned” on an agreement:

Apple Card is one of the most consumer-friendly credit cards available, and was specifically designed to support users’ financial health. Upon learning about these inadvertent issues years ago, Apple worked closely with Goldman Sachs to quickly address them and help impacted customers. While we strongly disagree with the CFPB’s characterization of Apple’s conduct, we have aligned with them on an agreement. We look forward to continuing to deliver a great experience for our Apple Card customers.”
Apple also highlights the Apple Card’s focus on financial health, including its interest calculator, Apple Card Family, no fees, and more. There’s also the Path to Apple Card program to help users improve their financial health.
Apple and Goldman Sachs have officially been hit with over $89 million in fines due to “Apple Card failures.” The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced the ruling today after a multi-year probe into Apple Card.
While it was initially believed that Goldman Sachs would be the one on the hook for these fines, it turns out that Apple itself will also have to pay up.
Apple is adjusting its supply chain production of Apple Vision Pro, according to a new report from The Information. The report details that Apple “has enough inventory built up to meet demand for the foreseeable future.”
Apple’s suppliers have reportedly made “enough components for roughly 600,000 headsets,” which is in line with the initial estimates for 2024 shipments.
Update: Apple’s release notes confirm this new firmware simply includes “bug fixes and other improvements.”
