Here we have a detailed video walkthrough of the iPad’s photos application we were posting about earlier today.

Apple adds advanced wallpaper features on iPad simulator

After using the Photos we have found some more small tidbits.  Apple has added some advanced wallpaper settings that are not currently found on the iPhone or iPod. It has been known that users will be able to customize their home screen wallpaper, but this has yet to be seen in the previous two SDK betas. In the photos app when you select an image, you can choose to set it as the “Lock Screen” or “Home Screen” wallpaper. There is also an option which allows you to simultaneously set an image as the wallpaper for both aspects of the device. Furthermore it is also possible to have a different images as the lock screen and home screen wallpapers.  More below:

Camera tab appears on iPad simulator's photos.app

Apple took down the iPad SDK for some reason. We still don’t know why.  But it might be that third tab in the Photos.app below.  We’ll see if this is the reason for the takedown when the next iPad SDK comes out.

Update: The iPad has a USB interface with a camera (and an SD card reader) so this might just be the interface for importing pictures.

Apple and Carriers quietly raise 3G app download limit to 20MB

Site default logo image

This one sort of slipped through the cracks on us, but AT&T and Apple have doubled the size of the “over the air” app downloads to 20MB.  The update came sometime earlier this week.  Is this a good move?  Perhaps AT&T is getting cocky with all of that extra bandwidth they have laying around.

Update: We’re hearing that the limit was raised in Germany and Canada as well, so we’re going out on a limb and saying it is global. We are also seeing that Apple has raised the 12MB download limit in the iPhone’s iTunes app to 20MB as well.

AT&T Prepping to sell the iPad 3G Models in store?

According to the geniuses at Boy Genius Report, Apple is teaming up with the only iPad US carrier, AT&T, to distribute the 3G models of iPad at their retail stores. This seems quite logical because all versions of the iPhone are sold at AT&T stores nation wide, but to date nothing along those lines for the iPad has been confirmed. AT&T selling the 3G model in stores would open up the door for Apple to sell more units of their forthcoming tablet device, and would also open up the door for more potential sales of the 3G model. BGR also states that large display models would be in the stores, similarly to the large iPhone displays currently housed in AT&T stores. These displays may be featured in the store’s netbook section. Apple is said to be launching the non-3g iPad in late march and is planning to launch the 3G models by the end of April.
