More than 300 Chinese iPhone engineers and technicians have been recalled from an Indian production plant, says a new report.

According to a recent investor note from GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu, Apple might have a pair of surprises in store for the iPhone 17 lineup this fall. Most notably, Pu has seemingly changed his prediction that the entire iPhone 17 lineup will use a version of the A19 chip. Instead, he now believes the base model iPhone 17 will use the same A18 chip that’s used in the iPhone 16.

Federal court blocks Trump tariffs; worst-case iPhone cost would exceed $4k

Federal court blocks Trump tariffs, as worst-case iPhone cost exceeds $4k | Apple slide reading 'No' in huge letters

The ongoing saga of potential tariffs on iPhones continues. After Trump threatened Apple with an additional 25% tariff on iPhones, the worst-case scenario could see the cost of the most expensive model in the line-up exceed $4,000.

However, a federal court has ruled that the president doesn’t actually have the legal authority to impose tariffs at all, let alone the most extreme ones he has threatened, and has vacated the executive orders issued so far …

During Apple’s recent earnings call, CEO Tim Cook revealed that absorbing the impact of tariffs was likely to cost the company about $900M in the current quarter. However, he refused to be drawn about whether we can expect iPhone 17 prices to be increased in response.

A new report today claims that Apple is considering raising prices for the new iPhone line-up, but almost certainly won’t give the real reason for this …

90% of people probably shouldn’t buy the iPhone 17 Air

iPhone 17 Air, or just iPhone Air? | Render shown with 'AIR' name overlaid

An argument could be made that this year’s iPhone line-up will have two top-tier models, depending on your priorities: either the iPhone 17 Pro Max or the iPhone 17 Air.

If you value iPhone photography, or all-round performance, you’ll want to stick to the Pro or Pro Max. If you prioritize sleek design, you might instead consider the Air to be the best model. But Apple seems to know that its sleek new model isn’t for most people …

Kuo: Apple already working on updated iPhone Air model with larger screen

Apple’s flashiest new iPhone launch this year will be the iPhone 17 Air / iPhone 17 Slim, a new entrant in the lineup featuring a striking 5.5mm thin chassis.

The Air is expected to replace the current Plus SKU, with a price point in the range of $900-$1000. Based on numerous leaked schematics, the iPhone 17 Air will sport a 6.6-inch display, nestling between the Pro and the Max in terms of size. But Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple is already working on a future generation Air with a bigger screen.

iPhone 17 Air is stunningly thin compared to iPhone 16 Pro in latest leak

iPhone 17 Air dummy unit

We’re probably 132 days away from the iPhone 17 actually being announced, yet it’s starting to feel like the iPhone 17 has been out for that long.

That’s probably because we’ve seen every design of iPhone 17 in various forms ranging from schematics to renderings for months. We’ve also seen cases, dummy units, dummy units in cases, and now dummy units that look so real that they could easily be mistaken for the real thing.

The latest iPhone 17 preview comes from Sam Kohl’s AppleTrack YouTube channel. In the video, Sam compares physical models meant to recreate the rumored iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max designs. At this rate, I’ll be disappointed if we don’t have working models running a recreation of iOS 19 by the first half of May.
