Verizon clearing iPhone 4 accessory inventory ahead of iPhone 5 launch?

According to Phone Arena, who is well-plugged into the mobile industry, Verizon has started clearing out their iPhone 4 accessory inventory ahead of the fall iPhone 5 launch. The information comes from a trusted Verizon source who says the carrier will begin discounting iPhone 4 accessories. These discounts are obviously a move towards selling out existing inventory ahead of the iPhone 5. Verizon decreasing the iPhone 4 case inventory does not necessarily rule out the iPhone 4 at a cheaper price point when the fifth-gen model launches, according to Phone Arena…

If this phasing out of existing iPhone 4 accessory inventory is actually true, this might even point to some design changes for the next-generation iPhone. iPhone 5 design rumors have ranged from practically no changes, to a “teardrop” like, thinner form-factor, to an iPhone 4 design that is thinner and lighter. Since the strongest rumor thus far for the iPhone 5 has been an iPhone 4-like design, perhaps these new iPhone 5 cases have to do with the rumored relocation of the LED flash to the top-right side of the device.

The next iPhone is due in September and will also likely pack in an 8 megapixel camera and Apple’s custom-made A5 dual core processor. This new iPhone will also include iOS 5 and iCloud pre-installed. Additionally, the iPhone 5 may not be the only new iPhone this fall. We’ve independently heard, in addition to other news sources, that Apple has a cheaper iPhone up its sleeve. This does not necessarily mean iPhone nano, but it may mean a a pre-paid iPhone 3GS.
