Apple included a button in the Music and Videos applications in iOS 5 that took the user directly to the respective section of the iTunes Store app. Now, in iOS 6, Apple includes a new feature to the redesigned Music app that will make purchasing even faster and easier than before. The new button, which appears at the bottom of albums, is a Complete My Album toggle. Rather than pull the user out of the Music app and into the iTunes Store, the list expands to show the entire album and allows for purchasing the songs directly in the new Music app.

The Videos app is given the same treatment with a Complete My Season feature for buying TV episodes. Screenshots of these features are in the gallery below.

Oddly, the button only appears if you navigate to the album through the Albums tab in the Music app. Searching or going through the Artists or Genres tabs will not show it. Currently, songs cannot be previewed directly in the Music app before purchasing; you will need to use the iTunes app for that. Hopefully both of these issues will be addressed before the update launches in the fall.

The enhancement does not seem work for iTunes Match subscribers as of yet.

Similarly, Apple added a “listen” button to purchased tracks in the redesigned iTunes Store app that will play the song without the need to jump to the Music app.

The implications of these changes include making it even easier for users to discover and download new tracks from Apple’s iTunes Store music section. The ability to listen to previously purchased music within the iTunes Store sort of diminishes the line between the store and music player, and this has its own interesting implications.
