ESPN iOS app adds AirPlay support for all channels

ESPN updated its WatchESPN app today for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to bring support for AirPlay on all of its channels including ESPN, ESPN2 ESPNU, and ESPN3. The update also includes support for AirPlay in the background, allowing you to multitask while playing content:

What’s New in Version 1.6.4

– AirPlay is now supported for all channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPN3).
– Includes support for AirPlay in background.
– Bug fixes, and optimizations.

Earlier, we told you Disney signed a multi-year agreement for much of the same ESPN content with Cablevision. According to analysts, Disney’s new distribution deals could be very important to Apple’s future TV projects.
