Apple’s official Apple Watch sizing guide with band sizes

Alongside Apple Watch pricing and availability announcements, Apple just released a handy sizing guide that will give you an idea of what band will be best for you.

For some models, like the Sport collection, Apple is including two bands in the box—“Small-Medium” and “Medium-Large”— while others, like the Modern Buckle straps, allow customers to pick from various strap sizes. There will be some exceptions: the gold model with Sport band is only listed as coming with one strap that “Fits 130–200mm wrists”.

The Modern Buckle bands use Small, Medium, and Large straps, while the Leather Loop, Milanese Loop, Link Bracelet, and Classic Buckle all have two different sizes for the 38mm and 42mm models. The Sport collection, as mentioned above, has Small/Medium and Medium/Large bands bundled in the box, but those vary in size for the 38mm and 42mm Sport models. So your decision might not only depend on what size face you want, but also what strap will fit you best.

Apple will also have the majority of these bands, apart from the 18k gold options, available to purchase separately ranging from $40 to $449.

Great articles, but every single image in all of these news stories is broken.

I don’t think that guide is right at all. Most of my male friends have wrists of about 155mm.

I know this because we all measured ourselves when we found out about the Apple Watch. I think this must be skewed towards tall, white Americans.

Great story. Pictures are fine with Safari

I am trying to find out how the link-style bands can be sized. The pictures seem to show a push button on the inside of each link. So, can links be removed by the end-user easily? That really is a factor in deciding whether to pre-order or get one in the store. I can’t find any info on this.

Will you have XL bands? I need one that is 9″

Yes, my band is 9.3 inches. But, good news for me, you and all the other Godzilla wristers out there.

So, I saw today that Apple is selling just the bands. One says, I believe 42mm, which, let us just round it to 8.5 inches. Ok, then that would have to mean that is the size of just the band from tip to tip. They could not give a length for just the band, that counted the watch, right? So, then let’s take the dial itself. Let us just make it 1.5 inches. Well then, that would mean that the largest band they currently sell, which is for the leather one, would be 10 inches. That has to be right. Does it not?

So, what I did was this. I had the dial parts printed out. I traced the large dial on a piece of paper. I drew a line that was 4.2 inches on the top of the watch head and 4.2 on the bottom. I tried it on my wrist and it fit very well, with a good amount of extra.

Now, I am kind of a moron. Writing, art and comedy are my thing. But, that just seems as if it has to be correct. Why would they sell a watch band and give you the size that was plus the dial of the watch? How would they know which watch you wished to put it on. hahahaha Sorry, I had to say it. Someone reply and tell me if I am like zoned out.

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE BAND YOU HAVE?

Even if I were to order an Apple watch (which I am not inclined to do), the only bands that I can have are the classic leather, leather loop, and sport band, none of which I would have been interestested in (I have an 8″ wrist, which works out to 200 mm). The link bracelet may fit, I would have to try it on. Apple needs to know that there are people out there whose wrists are big enough that none of their bands will fit. There is a previous poster who has a 9″/225 mm wrist. None of the bands will fit, so he cannot wear an Apple watch, no matter how must he would want one.

My buddies and I are ordering Extra Large custom bands for wrists 215mm and up. We’re calling it BigBands on Kickstarter. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bigbands/bigbands-xl-for-apple-watch-long-bands-for-large-w
