Leading up to Apple’s big iPhone 6S/iPad Pro/Apple TV event tomorrow, 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman spoke with CNBC today about what to expect during the keynote and beyond as we start entering the iPhone 7 upgrade cycle.
Included in the discussion are the new “3D Touch” display in the iPhone 6S, the iPad Pro’s place in the tablet lineup, and the all-new Apple TV with a more powerful processor, new remote with motion control and Siri integration, and an App Store of its own.

Great interview, very clear and concise. A bit annoying how many questions posed were about WHEN the phone will start to fail ( “this year? How about next year, will it slow then?”)

Really excellent interview Mark. I didn’t see any mistakes, all tech info sounded correct, no one can call you out for ‘coming across like a robot’ and you got such an extensive lengthy time to discuss all your points it feels like it was more of a Spotlight On Mark moment. Props to you sir!

Stellar stuff man!! Brilliant!! But when your name is Mark (that’s my name too, and spelled correctly with a ‘k’ and not a ‘c’) what else do you expect.
I really liked your comment toward the end about Apple using the Force Touch feature to eventually remove as many hardware elements as possible on future phones. My belief is that Apple will be the first to drop the headphone jack in favor of Bluetooth-only access and it’ll start with the iPhone 7 which will have Bluetooth Beats earbuds in the box.
Possibly in the same year and/or the following all other updated MacBooks and iMacs will drop the headphone jack with a USB-C dongle for those people that want/need wired headphone/earbud access (likely DJs).
Maybe Apple will even go the extra mile and make Beats headphones that have detachable extensions for both RCA jacks for USB-C ports.

“Whatsapp” is the only thing that forces me to keep the iPhone near and not adopting the iPad entirely. The day there’s a better alternative to Whatsapp or when it comes to the iPad, that’s when I think the sales of iPads will escalate. By the way, I will always prefer a laptop to a tablet, so, Whatsapp for OSX? Much better!

That was a great final insight about the Apple TV being the most critical update. iPhone and iPad will be fine, but this ATV update will decide the direction that that category of device will go in. From the sound of it, it doesn’t seem like it will be too revolutionary… I’m very excited to see what Apple reveals tomorrow
