Yoko Ono blows it again. Whole Beatles catalog to be available on iTunes - Sky News

We'll believe it when we see it but  late comments by John Lennon's Heiress seems to indicate that the whole Beatles back catalog will be showing up on iTunes...perhaps at tomorrow's event.

Update: The Sky News link is down but here's some twitterin' evidence below.

Update 2: A Sky News employee has told us they were told to cut the story out immediately and not to comment.  Directive came "from the very top".  Here's a Google Cache of the story if there are any unbelievers...This is getting interesting!

Update 3: Google's News cache is gone but it is still in the general cache.  The whole thing is kinda Twilight Zone at this point.  In the other corner we have EMI's chief saying it ain't going down... "tomorrow".

Shouldn't Sky News be issuing a retraction - or something at this point?  Isn't that what normal News news orgs do if they run a story and then pull it?  This is very very weird.  Has something like this ever happened before?

Remember: We're again rolling out our good ol' fashioned 9to5mac Livepanel which will be circulating the best feeds throughout the iPod event.  As you might remember, this framed page shows four of the best feeds at once and is refreshed every 15-30 seconds so your mouse button finger doesn't have to bleed.  It works best on large (24"+) monitors and uses 1990's html frames technology to bring sweet, sweet iPod camera information to your eyes as quickly as possible.

We are also trying to get an audio or video feed of the event and will pop it in if we find one.  Have fun!

Is this really much of a

4047

Is this really much of a surprise? I mean 9/9/09 is like official Beatles day it seems like, and the fact that Apple moved their event thats typically held on a Tuesday to a Wednesday that just so happens to be 9/9/09, shouldn't we have expected this event having some kind of Beatles announcement?

'cause the labor day holiday

4642

'cause the labor day holiday couldn't possibly be a reason to move the event out one day.

Because people don't go back

3949

Because people don't go back to work on Tuesday AFTER the holiday is over? Nice one, maybe I should have not shown up to work today

Really?, you don't know who

4545

Really?, you don't know who Yoko is?

She is the thing that destroyed the Beatles, almost ruined the new Rock Band game, and just now ruined what could have been Apple's biggest announcement tomorrow.

What a clueless post

Yoko did not destroy the Beatles

4643

Yoko did not "destroy" The Beatles. I am a lifelong fan. I was a fan through it all. The Beatles had outgrown each other. They were ready to move on. The rest of us wanted to keep something the same way forever, but life is not like that. They were four guys with four lives, and they were growing beyond the band. George had become a Hare Krishna for a while, John had already put on a live concert (for peace) without the rest of the band, featuring musicians who would become the plastic Ono Band, and Paul was recording a solo album in the studio. Ringo walked out of a recording session. He said "I've had it" and walked. Each of the other guys called him, unbeknownst to each other, and said that they would have walked out long before but they stayed because of him, so he came back. Then Paul announced the release of his solo album, which the other three did not know about. That was the end. George and Phil Spector went back in several months later and cleaned up a few tracks which they released, and then George went and recorded All Things Must Pass. They had moved on. It was us who blamed Linda and Yoko, because we were selfish and wanted it to go on forever. But it was over. It had nothing to do with the wives.

Hey...

4541

Is the Google cache gone?

I've made an exception

5034

I don't have space to buy any new CD. Period. I don't download pirate music either... Until today. Sorry EMI. It took to long. I made an exception and downloaded the discography.

I was willing to pay but you screwed it.

Announcing a Future Release Date

4342

The catalog may not be "released" or "available for download" tomorrow, but it could be "announced" tomorrow with a future release date. So, technically, both the mystery Yoko Ono statement and the EMI statement could be correct if there is an announcement made at the Apple event about iTunes finally getting the Beatles catalog.

Quit toying with my emotions...

3554

I wish the rumour mill would quit running hot and cold with us on this. I want my Beatles on iTunes god damn it.

I can't imagine how much

5438

I can't imagine how much Steve hates Yoko now lol, as i'm sure he probably hated her with a passion before

News items are pulled ...just like that??

4341

So we have huge companies pulling strings to make news items simply disappear without a trace but the *important* issue is that Yoko Ono remains unpopular? Huh? Doesn't anyone else think it is very creepy that there aren't even traces of this story on the 'net anymore (sans places like this site). How can this story be canned so easily? What other stories might be getting vaporised?

Perplexing .

WHO CARES???!!!!

Keep posting your

Keep posting your disgusting-white trash-racist views about Yoko coming in....they're very enlightening

Um...

4240

...what?

Yoko was instrumental in the split of the Beatles. She's come out against digital downloads of the back catalogue at every opportunity in the past. Christ, she practically made it her life mission to be a massive bitch to Julian Lennon and prevent him from getting *any* support from his Father's financial legacy.

Oh yeah, and she's ugly.

WTF has any of that got to do with race?
Keep that shit out of here, you reactionary dick.

Yeah, because Paul being a

4139

Yeah, because Paul being a baby about John wanting to have Yoko around did not help lead to the split. Get a clue.

I've grown tired of all this.

4538

I've grown tired of all this. Wake me when the Apple event starts.

Like i said in the EMI delay

5134

Like i said in the EMI delay article - I wonder if all the extra stuff - the quicktime movies and photos they are advertising in the new box set is what will be used to introduce the rumored Cocktail? What do you think?

Not so fast.

4635

Yoko wasn't the reason they split. Unless, you know, no-one in the band had a spine. Which is their own damn fault. Perspective people. Scapegoating is so last millennium.
