Apple 10.6.2 10C540 seed hits Apple TV, VMWare kernel, Airport on new iMacs Apple's got an interesting seed note with the latest 10.6.2 release (10C540). Under the GraphicsDrivers category, it says:"Resolves an issue with plugging and unplugging to an Apple TV" We're not quite sure what that means but it could be a strange way of saying that AppleTVs, when connected/disconnected to the MacOS, cause issues. For the conspiracy theorists: The 27" iMac only takes Mini DisplayPort in, and the Apple TV only does Component and HDMI out. It isn't likely that AppleTV 3.0 was updated to a Snow Leopard kernel, is it? Also, the kernel has been updated to be more compatible with VMWare and Airport drivers have been updated on the new iMacs. We heard earlier today that it was back to being compatible with Atom processors. Known Issues

I think I would put the fact
I think I would put the fact that the 27 inch has display port in, the Apple TV will be updated with display port out, and your mac will become an office/bedroom/kitchen pc and tv combo.
Sound unreasonable?
Why would you need a Apple TV
Why would you need a Apple TV in the same room as an iMac? With Front Row you basically have the same thing. All the other stuff the Apple TV does can simply just be done from the iMac itself.
Not to me. I can think of no
Not to me. I can think of no advantage to running an AppleTV into an iMac. The solution there would be to port the Backrow interface for use in the iMac in place of Frontrow.
My AppleTV is disconnecting
I am having issues with AppleTV and 10.6.1 ---- After not using my AppleTV for a while I have to manually re-sync in iTunes on my iMac (not the newer one)... is this what they are addressing?

It is clear that most of you
It is clear that most of you do not understand the AppleTV.
I am sure it has everything to do with the AppleTV connecting and disconnecting itself from itunes (over ethernet or wifi) and nothing to do with the mini display port.

Abandonware
It's clear from the apple tv update that Apple doesn't care.
It's still tiger based, and the gui is very inconsistent now, just a mix of old and new, you don't know whether to arrow down or right.
Also, under their "featured" page is the apple keynote podcast, which contains all of the apple keynotes. Well, guess what, the latest one doesn't play on the apple tv. It's listed there but you get an error when you try to play it.
apple tv
Apple TV plugs into monitors and TV's. When they say there is an issue with graphics drivers and you need them to communicate with all the different models out there, my assumption is that it resolves issues with connecting to TV's and such. Since I used to work for Apple technical support and did some time supporting Apple TV, that would be my guess. I hope this helps with the confusion.
