You should mention that the same is true for Snow Leopard Server if you buy an Xserve. What' EXTREMLY interesting is that your upgrade will have NO USER LIMIT which is a bunch of money. Guess you buy Leopard Server Limited (10-users, limit only valid for filesharing by the way) and then upgrade to Snow Leopard Server for $10, you get software that would have cost you $500 more (Snow Leopard Server without limit).
But maybe that just means that there won't be two versions (limited and unlimited) in Snow Leopard, which would be great....
They announced this last monday after WWDC, but they just released more details this morning. It did say it was only $10 last week.
But, if you buy Leopard Server now without an XServe ($999 for an unlimited client license, $499 for a 10 client license) there is NO upgrade path.
Totally lame, imho.
There IS an upgrade path, it is "hidden" in the common snow leopard upgrade announcement.
I ordered and it says will ship on Sept 25th.
I bought my Mac on June 7th, typical.
