Foxconn confirms iPhone-making price hike

Foxconn has confirmed reports it has raised manufacturing costs for clients, but is denying claims competing manufacturers are using the move as an opportunity to poach clients from the giant firm.

A Foxconn spokesperson pointed out that “most clients have already agreed to the new quotes,” reports Digitimes. Some negotiations continue.

Digitimes tells us the spokesperson also said most handset makers are facing the same increases in labor and component costs as Foxconn.

Foxconn has recently raised wages and improved conditions at its plants, which manufacture iPhones and other Apple products, and also products for Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and others.
