We’re receiving multiple reports from readers indicating that the TV Shows feature on Apple TV and on iTunes on Mac in the United States is seeing an outage. So, it’s not just you. Apple is yet to comment on the downtime on its official status page.

Looks like it is only for the US iTunes Store, I switch between US and Canada, switching to Canada brings the icon back, it disappears again when switching to the US location.
UK store not responding at all, error message – “The item you’ve requested is not currently available in the UK store.” I’ve not clicked anything other than store, won’t load it at all
I’m having the same issue. Not that their service status page is aware there’s a problem: http://www.apple.com/uk/support/systemstatus/
UPDATE: iTunes music store is down in the UK, can’t access the home page or music page from iTunes, search for an app and it will bring it up and you can access all other parts of the store, music section brings up the error message

Apple TV f*cking sucks! I’m so disappointed, had it for a year it’s a terrible product so far. Worst Apple experience I’ve ever had.
What don’t you like about it? Definitely a nice TV experience if you use it right with AirPlay.

I’m having the same problem with (US) tv show app… I thought I did something wrong with my apple tv… The TV show app is on in the UK
